Initial Evidence of Pervasive Reconnaissance Targeting Ethereum Node Infrastructure

Scott Seidenberger, Anindya Maiti

Abstract

We present initial evidence of pervasive reconnaissance targeting Ethereum node infrastructure. Through measurement and analysis, we document systematic scanning and probing patterns targeting blockchain nodes.

Key Results

  • Ethereum nodes face continuous, automated reconnaissance
  • Scanning patterns suggest adversarial fingerprinting of node software and configuration
  • Geographic and temporal patterns in reconnaissance activity
